America Week at Lidl and the 4th of July

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Once again, Lidl, my favorite discount grocery store is having America Week. They started it last Wednesday, the 4th of July. A coincidence? I think not.

Yum yum – or as the FR would say, “Miam miam.”

There were new goodies on offer this year, such as grilled onions (in the refrigerated section) and US steaks (which I thought were interdit in FR because of hormones used in raising US cattle).

The grilled onions and onion rings would go great with the US steaks.

Also new were the American (?) pancakes (they tasted suspiciously Canadian to me) and what would US food be without apple pie?

Don’t forget your smooth OR crunchy peanut butter.

Alas, the stores we visited didn’t have the American ice cream.

I’m sure that any resemblance to the Ben & Jerry’s font is purely coincidental.

But here are some of the ‘back home’ treats we did pick up.

The backdrop is a Franco-American Coca-Cola placemat.

We just love¬†McEnnedy brand (the Lidl house brand) vittles: they taste like…America.

BTW: Tomorrow Lidl starts Mexican week.
